Director of Education
The Educational Director is responsible for the day-to-day educational operations of the program. The duties and responsibilities of the Educational Director shall be those as set by the Employer which duties shall be performed in accordance with the standards and approved methods of practice for the respective profession and in accordance with the standards and approved methods of practice for the respective profession and in accordance with all the rules and regulations governing the Employer by Federal and State Agencies and Intermediaries.
The duties shall include but not be limited to the following:
· Provide educational services specifically designed for the clients of Building Blocks/Center for Pediatric Therapies.
· Observe and critique the educational activity for Building Blocks Center for Children with Autism as assigned.
· Responsible for education program planning, program implementation, treatment progress, and documentation of progress for assigned clients of Building Blocks/Center for Pediatric Therapies.
· Responsible for acquisition and maintenance of curriculum materials.
· Oversees the development and maintenance of IEP/IIP/IFSP.
· Ensure annual educational testing is completed for each Building Blocks student.
· Record progress toward mastery of goals on the IEP/IIP/IFSP for all students and ensure all IEP/IIP/IFSP goals are up to date.
· Ensure student progress reports and report cards are completed for submission by given deadlines.
· Facilitate and evaluate lesson planning and programs in conjunction with Virginia SOLs as appropriate.
· Provide supervision and assistance to staff educators, assistant educators, and/or support staff as needed and responsible for the supervision of employees, full-time and part-time, and all other staff including volunteers and student interns working in the school building or on the school grounds.
· Supervise and participate in data recording for new and existing individualized educational programs for all students.
· Aide in correspondence with daily data sheets.
· Review educational program and data and implement changes to program as necessary.
· The Education Director will be available to participate in team meetings, with parents and/or school divisions.
· Plan/Participate in staff development activities and training as required.
· Appoint a licensed staff member to serve as the designee.
· Responsible for assisting families in the community with access to available resources.
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with Rules and Regulations Governing Private Special Education facilities in VA, according to the VDOE.
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with Accreditation Standards, according to VAISEF.
· Responsible for participating in or designating other staff members to participate in VAISEF conferences, meetings, committees, etc. as required.
· Responsible for receiving and disseminating VAISEF and VDOE information to the Executive Director and to Building Blocks staff.
· Responsible for corresponding with VAISEF and VDOE staff as necessary.
· Responsible for the process of program review and quality control.
· Responsible for collaborating with the Autism Specialist to plan instructional growth and development services based on program review and quality control data/information.
· Responsible for the study of client outcomes relative to the mission, goals, and objectives of the program.
· Responsible for compiling information obtained from the follow up of discharged clients and using data for program improvement.
· Responsible for preparing obtained information for dissemination.
Qualifications:
The instructional leader shall hold a valid five-year renewable postgraduate professional license issued by the board with an endorsement in school administration and supervision or special education and have at least three years of experience working with students with disabilities.
